AMPS: 2020 Round-Up

Every year typically has a few defining points and it’s fair to say 2020 contained some particularly memorable moments. In between virtual catchups, Zoom meetings, and working from home we achieved some exciting things. Here’s our 2020 roundup:

    • You may remember that our CEO Brendan was nominated for the Business News Young Entrepreneur Award. He was up against some tough competition! From popular Instagram brands, to a company that was recently granted the FDA’s first approval of the over-the-counter COVID-19 testing kit, it was a diverse and fascinating group. Following 2 category nominations, Brendan was named number 72 on the top 100 list. We couldn’t be more proud! You can read the full article here.

    • In 2020 Brendan was nominated for not one but TWO awards! He was also nominated in the prestigious 40 under 40 awards. The 40 under 40 awards celebrates WA’s leading entrepreneurs, innovators and future business leaders under the age of 40. All entrants are also in the running for the Murdoch University People’s Choice Award. The winner is determined by you! Vote for Brendan here.

    • The AMPS family grew by 15 people! That’s a total of 35 people working on-site and in our Fremantle office.

    • In 2020 we took the time to catch up over the festive period with an AMPS Christmas party and family day. This year, more than ever, we were extremely grateful to be able to meet and connect with our WA based employees and their families.

    • We know that mental health in the workplace is important. We focused on inspiring and empowering the AMPS team to meaningfully connect with the people around them. Thanks to Altius Group for guiding us and encouraging us to ask those around us “are you ok?”

    • We attended the annual Diggers and Dealers event in Kalgoorlie. After such a challenging year for many, it was a great opportunity for the mining industry to come together and showcase the progress made on projects and operations.

    • We met some fantastic drill and blast engineers at our Drill & Blast course. Our courses are designed to equip engineers with the skills and knowledge to address D&B principles and learn how to critically assess common problems. We have already scheduled several courses during the first half of the year! For those based in WA, you can join our Fremantle based course in February. We will also be running a D&B course in Brisbane! Find out more here.

    • We have been in the studio working on some exciting secret projects this year! Keep an eye on our website for updates – we can’t wait to show you!

    • 2020 stopped a lot of networking events but we were thrilled that we managed to squeeze in the Girl’s Focus on Mining Event in Kalgoorlie before lockdown. We look forward to hopefully seeing some of these students become professionals in the industry!

2020 has been a year like no other. Thank you for all your continued support! We look forward to working with you in 2021.
